LANGO Timeline

Following the adoption of the draft LANGO by the Parliament, the Cambodian Center for Human Rights ("CCHR") has produced a timeline detailing the process that led to its adoption. This timeline is intended to picture developments around the five drafts of the law, highlight the concerns repeatedly raised by civil society organizations during the legislative process, and inform the general public about its consequences on fundamental freedoms. It covers events occurred from the first submission of the law to the Council of Minister in June 1998, to its adoption by the Parliament in July 2015. The information contained in this timeline have been gathered from Khmer/English media articles and comments/analysis issued by civil society organizations and other experts, and compiled by CCHR.
