Today marks World Press Freedom Day (“WPFD”), an annual initiative that aims to promote and protect freedom of the press across the globe. The principal focus of this year’s WPFD is access to information, an essential requirement of any truly participatory democracy, insofar as it “allows for public scrutiny, oversight, participation, and empowerment”.

The Cambodian Center for Human Rights ("CCHR") published a leaflet entitled 'Women Human Rights Defenders Project Support'. This leaflet aims to raise awareness of readers to know the type of project support that can provide assistance to women human rights defenders who have been victims, or are at risk of violence and/or trauma as a result of their work. The leaflets include information regarding the type of project support and information you can ask for support. CCHR hope that women human rights defenders could receive information through these promotional leaflets.

The purpose of the leaflet is to provide readers with an overview of SOGI rights in Cambodia. The leaflet includes useful information on key terminology, as well as an introduction to SOGI rights and a timeline identifying important milestones in their development in Cambodia. CCHR hope the leaflet will raise awareness of what daily life is like for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender ("LGBT") people and contribute to reducing SOGI-based discrimination.

The Trial Monitoring Project has published a leaflet 'Fair Trial Rights in Cambodia as Monitored by CCHR". The leaflet presents in numbers CCHR's findings after monitoring trials at the Court of Appeal.
Following months of massive protests, Cambodia has instituted a broad crackdown on demonstrations which has left four people dead, dozens injured and at least 28 activists imprisoned in the past month,according to NGO and media reports. All public gatherings have now been banned.
