Under threat of Dismissal, Garment Workers Return
Most of the nearly 3,000 garment workers involved in a week of sporadic strikes outside a Phnom Penh factory returned to work yesterday, according to a factory representative. Eric Mah, administration and human resources manager at PCCS garment factory in the capital's Sen Sok district, said the company obtained a court order-which came in to effect at noon yesterday-requiring workers to return or face dismissal.

Spike in Illegal Vietnamese Pig Imports Worries Farmers
The number of pigs being smuggled from Veitnam has jumped this month, spurring concerns that the imports will drive down prices and spread disease, pig farmers said. The number of pigs smuggled from vietnam has increased from 600 pigs per day last month to just under 100 pigs in recent days, said Srun Pov, deputy president of the Cambodia Pig Raiser Association. He added that many of the importers fail to buy animal transport licenses for their cargo.

Rights Groups Criticize Court in Land Dispute
Human rights groups accused Siem Reap provincial Court of attempting to stifle coverage of Tuesday's scheduled trail of nine villagers involved in a land dispute, after journalists and some Human rights workers were reportedly barred from the courthouse. the Land dispute in Chi Kreng district's Chi Kreng commune escalated into a violent confrontation last March, when police allegedly opened fire on a group of farmers who claim that authorities have illegally plotted to sell 475 hectares of their farmland. Four farmers were injured in the shooting .
