This week, the Chamber continued to hear the testimony of Civil Party Meas Saran, a nurse at Borei Keila’s medical triage unit prior to the fall of Phnom Penh who lost contact with his wife during the evacuation of the city. Following the conclusion of his testimony, the Chamber heard another Civil Party, Ms. Or Ry, whose family experienced two forced evacuations, initially from Phnom Penh to her native village in Kandal Province, and then again to Battambang Province. A third Civil Party, Mr. Chau Ny, testified on Friday and gave some insight on his experience as a Khmer Krom during the DK.

CCHR report on International Human Rights Day 2012 gatherings
10 December has been internationally recognized as International Human Rights Day (“IHRD”) since the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (the “UDHR”) was adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations (the “UN”) on 10 December 1948. 2013 World Press Freedom Index: Dashed Hopes After Spring
After the “Arab springs” and other protest movements that prompted many rises and falls in last year’s index, the 2013 Reporters Without Borders World Press Freedom Index marks a return to a more usual configuration. This is especially true for those women involved in the political decision making process, where only through the protection of their rights will they be able to fulfill their role. The opportunities provided in respect to political empowerment and the decision making process must be equal for both men and women.
