Juvenile Justice Upheld by the Court of Cambodia
- Released Date 15-Feb-2013
Juveniles who are accused of having committed a criminal offense are entitled to all the fair trial rights that apply to adults, as well as additional protections in recognition of their age, maturity, andintellectual development. Articles 31 and 48 of the Constitution explicitly recognize the Convention on the Rights of the Child (the "CRC") and uphold that the State shall protect the rights of children. The statutory framework further provides for differentiated treatment of juveniles in a number of important areas. Thus, this talk show is dedicated to raising the public’s awareness on the specific rights of juveniles.
