Welcome to the Cambodian Business and Human Rights Portal

Human rights are universal rights to which all humans are entitled. Developments of the industrial age have led to these rights being influenced by actions of the private sector, meaning that businesses now have a responsibility to respect human rights. Discharging this responsibility is not only a moral and legal requirement, but is also good for business.

This Portal is part of an effort to bring together businesses, civil society actors, the Royal Government of Cambodia (the ‘’RGC’’), and the public, to work together to promote and encourage a positive commitment to human rights by businesses. Our goal is to promote better understanding, constructive dialogue and close collaboration between these parties as they work towards greater respect for human rights in Cambodia.

Since 1996, the Cambodian garment industry has increasingly become a major source of export revenue, providing employment to more than 600,000 Cambodian people. As such, it has become our target to increase monitoring activities to ensure that all businesses are aware of corporate social responsibility. Therefore, increased State and corporate implementation of the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (“GPs”) in the Cambodian garment industry has been our primary objective since 2012.

On our Portal you can find information on resources, news, events and partners working to promote understanding and respect for human rights by businesses in Cambodia, particularly in the garment sector, and learn more about the Statement of Principles and the businesses who have pledged to uphold them.
