  • Workshop on “State Duties and Due Diligence on Human Rights"

    On 30 May 2019, CCHR’s Business and Human Rights Project organized a workshop on “State Duties and Due Diligence on Human Rights” in Kampot Province with participants from companies, the government, and civil society organizations joined together to learn about the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and Due Diligence. Participants were able to share challenges and come up with solutions to respect human rights in business. The objective of this workshop was to build capacity of businesses which operate in Cambodia to implement human rights standards in their business policies.

  • Networking Meeting on Business and Human rights

    On 29 May 2019, CCHR’s Business and Human Rights Project organized a networking meeting on “Business and Human rights” aimed at land, forestry, environment and human rights activists based in nine communities in Kampot Province. The purpose of this networking meeting was to discuss and share experiences related to the resolution of land disputes. It also provided activists with an opportunity to build a network to protect their rights.

  • Research mission to meet communities and stakeholders in land dispute

    Between 1 and 11 May 2019, CCHR’s Business and Human Rights Project’s team members travelled to Mondulkiri, Oddar Mean Chey and Pursat provinces in order to meet with individuals and communities involved in land disputes, with CSO representatives working on land disputes, as well as with public officials at the local, district and provincial levels. It also met with representatives of MDS-Thma Da and Socfin-KCD. The trip was part of the team’s efforts to collect information about three land disputes: one involving Pu Nong people and Socfin-KCD in Bu Sra Commune, Mondulkiri Province, in relation to one ELC; one involving villagers from Koun Kriel commune in relation to the ELC formerly attributed to subsidiaries of Mitr Phol company in Oddar Mean Chey; and finally, another dispute between villagers from Thma Da Commune in Pursat Province, and the MDS Thmorda SEZ Co.,Ltd, about the SEZ.

  • Field Visit to Thmor Da Commune,Veal Veng District, Pursat Province

    On 20 and 21 March, 2019, CCHR representative and partner NGOs representatives met land community people and authorities at Thma Da commune, Veal Veng district, Pursat province to collect the updated information on the solution process of a land dispute between the 15 affected families and MDS THMORDA S.E.Z Co., Ltd.

  • Workshop and Networking Meeting

    On the 14th of March 2019, CCHR’s Business and Human Rights Project supported by OHCHR, organized a workshop and networking meeting. This allowed for open discussions, the sharing of experiences, case studies, and getting updated information. Furthermore, this meeting provided a space for land activists, the indigenous people, forest activists, environmental activists of Kratie to build networks with other participants from different groups.

    On the 13th of March 2019, CCHR representatives conducted a field mission visit to local communities and Indigenous People in Kratie Provinces to get an update on their challenging experiences with the issue of land dispute– inclusive of fundamental rights.   • On 15-16 February 2019, CCHR representatives was meeting with land and fishing communities in Preah

    On 15-16 February 2019, CCHR representatives was meeting with land and fishing communities in Preah Sihanouk and Kampot Provinces to get update on their state of fundamental freedoms, land rights, and other issues they are facing. Also, the team was able to conduct need assessment and collect feedback from the communities at how best our CSOs’ roles could fill in.

  • Refresher Training for the Grassroots Trainers

    On Monday 5 and Tuesday 6 March 2018, CCHR’s Business and Human Rights project, in cooperation with CCHR’s Land Tenure Security Project, organized a Refresher Training for the Grassroots Trainers in Phnom Penh. 24 participants, including 12 women, participated the training.’’

  • Monitor Cascade Training in Preah Vihear Province

    CCHR’s Business and Human Rights and Land Tenure Security Projects monitored a cascade training which was conducted by the grassroots trainers of land community, at Rom Deng Primary School, Rom Tom commune, Ravieng district, Preah Vihear province. There were 37 participants, 20 of whom were women.
