CCHR - Analysis 5th draft LANGO

The Cambodian Center for Human Rights is pleased to share with you a short analysis of the 5th draft Law on Associations and Non-Governmental Organizations ("LANGO"). The draft law, which was leaked to civil society organizations, was approved by the Council of Ministers on 5 June and will be soon send to the National Assembly. The current text contains several concerning provisions. If adopted, this law could severely affect the capacity of national and international associations and NGOs to operate in Cambodia, and put at serious risk the exercise of fundamental freedoms as guaranteed by the Cambodian Constitution and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, to which Cambodia is a party. This analysis highlights some of CCHR's most pressing concerns and calls for consultations with all relevant stakeholders.
