On 18 June 2021, Heng Vichet, a VOD reporter, was banned from filming and covering the forced eviction of people living in the floating houses in Phnom Penh. He stated that when he arrived at the scene, he was questioned by authorities who then forbid him from recording footage of the eviction, threatened him to delete the photos he had taken, and said he would face legal action if he published the photos or story. One day later, the district governor released a letter denying that the situation happened this way and instead stated that 20 journalists rushed to the boat to cover the dispute, causing chaos.
