On 2 February 2023, two unidentified individuals armed with swords reportedly attacked Dam Noeung Knuong Srok journalist Chum Sotra at his home in Battambang’s Sangkat Toul Ta Ek, leaving him injured. Roughly two weeks before the incident, he had asked local police to crack down on drug trafficking activities at the local train station. Chum Sotra filed a complaint with the provincial police on the next day.
