The Cambodian Centre for Human Rights (CCHR) marked the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists 2024 and is running an online campaign from Tuesday through November 26, 2024. Cambodia detains over 1,000 foreigners after trafficking tip-off
More than 1,000 foreigners, mostly Chinese nationals, have been detained by Cambodian authorities following a tip by South Korean media that probed complaints of its citizens being tricked and trafficked into scam compounds. One report said they were all believed to be involved with torture, while another said the numbers included Chinese and South Koreans who had been trafficked into a compound named as Mango Park in central Kampong Speu province.

In a groundbreaking initiative to combat gender-based violence (GBV) across Cambodia, the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), with funding from the Wesley Zaidan Foundation, has partnered with the Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Child Helpline Cambodia (CHC) to launch the “GBV Safe App – (Our Safety App)”. The mobile application, designed to offer critical resources and support services to women and girls experiencing harassment, abuse or violence, will officially launch on November 25, marking the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign.

1,000 Foreign Workers Found in Raid on Suspected Kampong Speu Scam Compound
Around 1000 foreign nationals, mainly Chinese and Koreans, were detained by the National Police following a raid on a housing complex in Kampong Speu province, which prior reports have linked to suspected scam operations. The October 24 raid came a day after a South Korean news outlet published an investigative report identifying the Kampong Speu compound, known as Mango Park, as a cyber-scam hub trafficking Korean to scam other and allegedly colluding with local law enforcement.
