Publication : Report

The report aims to provide a concise overview of the human rights abuses that LICADHO observed and investigated in 2008 and 2009. Three themes are the focus of this report. First is the intensified use of the courts as a weapon to prevent the legitimate and lawful activities of human rights defenders. The second trend is the observation in 2008 and 2009 about the increased use of defamation and disinformation laws to restrict freedom of expression. Third is the increased restriction on freedom of association and assembly.
