Gathered at the first ever International Youth Camp on Transparency and Integrity organised last week in Siem Reap, Cambodia, youths from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Vietnam, Cambodia and the Philippines expressed their will to fight against corruption in their countries and in the region and took concrete steps to carry this fight forward.

January 1, 2015 - One year on from the state violence of early January 2014 which led to the deaths of at least four men and the hospitalization of dozens, the disappearance of a teenage boy and the wrongful imprisonment of 23 union leaders, activists and workers, we the undersigned civil society organizations condemn the lack of progress made in investigating these human rights violations and in punishing those responsible.

Work for media freedom towards the fulfillment of human rights
We, members of the Southeast Asian Press Alliance, gathering in Kanchanaburi, Thailand for our General Assembly mark International Anti-Corruption Day (December 9) and Human Rights Day with the resolve to reorganize and strengthen the alliance to make it more capable to meet regional press freedom and freedom of expression challenges. Joint Statement : Arbitrary Arrests in Boeung Kak 1
We, the undersigned organizations, condemn the arbitrary arrests and expedited trial of Mr. Ly Srea Kheng and his daughter Ms. Ly Seav Minh on November 18th 2014. The Kheng family is involved in a land dispute with the Khun Sear Import Export Company (“Khun Sear Company”) - owned by tycoon Khun Sear - after they refused to vacate a plot of land in the Boeung Kak 1 area of Phnom Penh’s Tuol Kork district, which they have inhabited since 1982. The family has suffered death threats, violent attacks and intimidation as a result.

CCHR launches campaign calling on Cambodians to take a stance against impunity
Today, 2 November 2014, the Cambodian Center for Human Rights (“CCHR”) launches its annual impunity campaign to mark the United Nations’ first International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists. CCHR takes this opportunity to highlight the rampant and widespread nature of impunity in Cambodia. The campaign aims to generate and relay the public’s call on the Royal Government of Cambodia (the “RGC”) to end to impunity. We are calling on Cambodians to take picture of themselves holding a sign with their pledge to end impunity.

We, the undersigned civil society groups, condemn the actions of the Oddar Meanchey authorities who have, since September 2014, been engaged in the obstruction, harassment, intimidation, and assault of rights workers (see Annex 1: Timeline of Events). Most recently, a four-person team from Equitable Cambodia (“EC”) was in the province to conduct field research on the impacts of forced evictions resulting from economic land concessions granted for the development of sugarcane plantations.
