CCHR condemns alleged acts of violence used against women in attempted eviction
he Cambodian Center for Human Rights (CCHR) condemns the alleged beating of three women attempting to prevent the razing of their land in an ongoing land dispute in Oddar Meanchey’s Anglong Veng district. It was reported in today’s Phnom Penh Post (“Attempted eviction results in alleged beating of 3 women”) that on Friday 9 December twelve environmental officers working for the Koulen Prumptep wildlife sanctuary and eight soldiers arrived at the village with the intent of burning down homes, which they claimed lay on national park land.

CCHR to host public forum in Stung Treng province for communities from across Prey Lang
On 16 December 2011, communities living in four provinces, Kampong Thom, Kratie, Preah Vihear and Stung Treng will meet at a public forum organized by the Cambodian Center for Human Rights (“CCHR”) in Morn village, Anlong Chrey commune, Thala Barivat district, Stung Treng province. The forum will provide an opportunity for the communities to voice their concerns relating to illegal logging and land clearing in the Prey Lang forest. The illegal logging and land clearing has strongly affected the livelihoods of villagers throughout these four provinces.
