Community Forum on Human Rights and Water Resources in Battambang province
On 23 November 2011, a land community in Chak Touch-Chak Thom village, Kakoh commune, Moung Russei district will host a community forum on Human Rights and Water Resources starting at 7.30am. The forum, which will be held in Chak Touch-Chak Thom village, will include around 200 participants who will be given the platform to raise issues and ask questions to the invited guest speakers who will include members of the local authorities and individuals from the Battambang Water Resource and Meteorology Department, the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights Battambang office and non-governmental organizations.

We write to bring your immediate attention to Cambodia’s draft Law on Associations and NGOs (LANGO). The draft law poses a serious threat to civil society’s freedom of association and freedom of expression as it contains broad and vague provisions that could be used to arbitrarily deny registration or close NGOs or associations. The ADB should convince the Cambodian authorities to immediately withdraw the draft law.
