That editorial used as its pretext the 26th Anniversary of the leadership of the Prime Minister, Samdach Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, who become Prime Minister of Cambodia on January 14, 1985. In fact, it is the opening guns by opposition parties and other critics of the Royal Government of the next national election campaign, slated for mid-2013.

A sample of 85 voters ‘Almost’ or ‘Completed’ (81 to 100%) from districts in Siem Reap province (36% women) representative of communities including: forestry, fisheries non-governmental organizations, businesspersons, civil servants, students, and farmers reported on their satisfaction with the performance of Siem Reap’s elected officials in implementing the priority benchmarks for the province. In the majority of cases these benchmarks were felt to be ‘not at all’ or ‘slightly achieved’.

Human Rights Defender faces accusation by Kompong Chhnang Provincial Court
The Cambodian Human Rights and Development Association (ADHOC) disagrees with Court’s decision to accuse Mr. Sam Chankea and charge Mr. Reach Seymar – a citizen from Lor Peang village - of Defamation, as stated in Article 63 of UNTAC Penal Code and Article 305 of the new Penal Code. ADHOC considers the court’s decision as unfair and unacceptable.
