We, representatives of Cambodian civil society, have grave concerns about the Cambodia-Thailand border dispute which has led to the fighting between the two countries, resulting in death and serious injury. Communities Collectively Lodge Land Complaints with Authorities in Phnom Penh
In June 2008, communities from 5 provinces that filed public complaints against land concessions and alleged land grabbing were subjected to harassment by the authorities, including restrictions on their movement and ability to hold meetings, and police threats preventing the delivery of complaints to authorities in Phnom Penh.

Born Samnang and Sok Sam Oeun, Innocent Prisoners - 1, 700 Days Behind Bars
Today marks the 1,700th day that Born Samnang and Sok Sam Oeun have spent in prison for a crime they did not commit. Despite overwhelming evidence of their innocence, the two men continue to serve 20-year prison sentences for the murder of trade union leader Chea Vichea. They remain in Phnom Penh’s PJ prison, where they have been since their arrests on January 28, 2004.

Cambodia: Law Must be Clear About Compoundable and Non-Compoundable Offences
On July 30, 2008 the Supreme Court of Cambodia upheld a lower courts ruling that found Prince Norodom Ranariddh guilty of breach of trust and sentenced him to 18 months in prison. Ranariddh was the president of a political party named FUNCINPEC. FUNCINPEC was a partner of the Cambodian Peoples Party since 1993. In 2006 Mr. Nhiek Bun Chhay, the Secretary General of FUNCIPEC ousted Ranariddh from the party and later filed a criminal lawsuit against him for breach of trust. The allegation was that Ranariddh had sold party’s land in Phnom Penh and had used the sale proceeds, claimed to be US$3.6 millions, to buy land for the new, self-named party, Norodom Ranariddh Party, Ranariddh had formed.
