The Ministry of Information Ban All the Radio Stations From Broadcasting Foreign Radio Program During Election Campaign Period
The Ministry of Information issued two letters to all the media agencies in Cambodia to ban all the foreign residents live in Cambodia from doing or participating in the election campaign in the support of any political parties, ban all the radio stations in the country to stop broadcasting international radio program in Khmer during the whole month of election campaign and stop all the broadcasting any international radio programs of the surveys, results of the surveys related to the election process and stop all the broadcasting on the election campaigns.

Council of Europe: Parliamentary Assembly Must Robustly Condemn Bans on “Homosexual Propaganda”
Thursday 27 June 2013, Strasbourg: We the undersigned organisations strongly urge the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) to condemn so-called “homosexual propaganda” bans as incompatible with the rights to freedom of expression, freedom of assembly, and the prohibition of discrimination. The Assembly should vote in favour of today’s resolution and recommendation on tackling discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity.

There Is No Justice, No-one Is Safe
Again former the Bavet Governor, Chhouk Bandith failed to appear in court to face charges forthe brutal shooting of three Cambodian garment workers in February 2012. Last week, Bandithwas tried in absentia on 12-14 June, 2013. During the three day hearing nineteen witnesses were called, eighteen of those were police officers.

Cambodia: Report Finds Marked Deterioration in Human Rights
Phnom Penh, 19.06.2013: Human rights defenders in Cambodia are less safe than they were a year ago according to a report published today by ARTICLE 19 and the Cambodian Center for Human Rights (CCHR). The risk assessment survey shows the security situation in the country deteriorated significantly in 2012 as the government crackdown on fundamental human rights has intensified ahead of the elections in July. The report highlights in particular, increasing attacks on freedom of expression and freedom of association.
