Cambodias health system has experienced several drastic changes in the last decades and therefore is not as developed as necessary. The Ministry of Health (MOH) and several NGOs work to strengthen the health service infrastructure and improve the quality of public healthcare for the Cambodian population. However, non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are increasing significantly, now causing an estimated 53% of deaths per year, and health centres and hospitals lack key personnel, adequacy of essential drugs and operational guideline requirements.
