The trend has developed from the typical ways of protest such as matching in a huge crowd with big banners, blocking the roads, refusing to continue working etc. to other kinds represented by symbols. Since the last few years, as of the case of Prey Lang protection, people from Kampong Thom province dressed up and drew their faces in green, which could be clearly seen as the representation of green forest. Consequently, that kind of protest was named "Cambodian Avartar".
