The struggle for LGBTI equality is gradually spreading to all parts of the world. Several nations on three continents have legalized same-sex marriage in the last two years, bringing the total to 14. Other than marriage laws, progress has been made at all political levels, through regulations, litigation or LGBTI politicians coming out to the public. However, little has changed in countries that criminalize homosexual acts, which widenes the gap between LGBTI-friendly and LGBTI-unfriendly countries.
