Summary

On 5 October 2020, Sovann Rithy, director of TVFB, was convicted of incitement (articles 494 and 495) and sentenced by the Phnom Penh Municipal to an 18-month prison sentence, which was suspended, after spending six months in pre-trial detention. Sovann Rithy was arrested in April 2020 for a Facebook post in which he accurately quoted a comment made by Prime Minister Hun Sen during a press conference on COVID-19.
