Read More Four Years of Strikes at NagaWorld
It has been four years, from 18 December 2021 to 18 December 2025, since workers at NagaWorld went on strike to demand justice, respect for labour rights and protect the freedom of the independent Labour Rights Supported Union of Khmer Employees of NagaWorld (LRSU) which the company has consistently sought to dismiss, expel and persecute in an attempt to dissolve, without proper basis, a union established by the agreement of workers since 2009.

Read More Briefing Note: Displacement during the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict and the right to housing and adequate shelter
To mark World Habitat Day 2025, CCHR is reflecting on the enjoyment of the right to adequate shelter and housing as a result of the Cambodia-Thai border conflict and the displacement it caused. See CCHR’s Briefing Note to learn more about the displacement, the perspectives and concerns of those who have been displaced in the affected provinces, and the relevant human rights law and standards. CCHR calls on both parties to the border conflict, the RGC and the Royal Thai Government (RTG), to respect each country’s sovereignty by committing to peaceful conflict resolution and adherence to international law, thereby ensuring that further displacements do not occur in either country.

We are deeply worried that proposed amendments to the Nationality Law allowing the government to strip Cambodians of their citizenship are vaguely written, and will have a disastrously chilling effect on the freedom of speech of all Cambodian citizens.

Read More ASEAN Rights Groups rally against UN Cybercrime Treaty’s Threat to Liberty and Privacy
ASEAN (5 August 2024) - As the negotiations for the UN Cybercrime Treaty draw to a close on 9 August, we, members of the ASEAN Regional Coalition to #StopDigitalDictatorship and Southeast Asia Collaborative Policy Coalition (SEA CPN), voice our profound concerns regarding the numerous provisions within the treaty that significantly threaten civil liberties, privacy rights, and the protection of human rights activists globally. This treaty, proposed to foster international cooperation against cybercrime, appears to grant overly broad powers to States at the expense of individual freedoms and privacy. Proposed key elements of the treaty will allow States to abrogate their obligations under existing human rights treaties, and therefore undermine fundamental human rights norms.

Read More Conviction of Mother Nature Activists is a National Shame
The Phnom Penh Capital Court’s conviction and sentencing of 10 Mother Nature activists to 6-8 years in prison, and the arrest of five of them on 2 July 2024, is a shame for our nation. Silencing environmental defenders and characterising their peaceful advocacy as a threat to the state is a mockery of justice. It is well past time for authorities to listen to and work with youth and environmental activists. Stop spending resources harassing, threatening and prosecuting the brave and passionate young people who are working to protect Cambodia’s most precious natural resources.

Read More JOINT STATEMENT Cambodia and Italy Must Not Recommence Intercountry Adoptions / DICHIARAZIONE CONGIUNTA Cambogia e Italia non riaprano le adozioni internazionali
We, the undersigned organisations, call on the Cambodian and Italian governments to immediately halt the reopening of intercountry adoptions. Cambodia has not enacted safeguards that will sufficiently protect the best interests of the child or prevent reoccurrences of the severe fraud and corruption that marked intercountry adoptions in the past.
