The RGC recently announced that nearly 100,000 families have been identified as being eligible for hard land titles, and that hundreds of thousands more eligible families will also be identified.     Cambodian Human Rights and Development Association (ADHOC), CARAM-Cambodia, Cambodian Human Rights Action Committee (CHRAC) and NGO Committee on CEDAW express great concern about the increase in the number of cases related to migrant workers and the violation of their rights to work, in particular the recent cases involving two recruiting companies namely; T & P Co, Ltd” which had its license withheld by the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training and Giant Ocean International Fishery Co, Ltd which was closed down in early 2012.

    Almost 400 criminal trials monitored in fair trial study; fourth CCHR Report shows improvements in impartiality and professionalism, but continued shortfalls in pre-trial detention

    The fourth bi-annual report on fair trials in the Cambodian Courts (the “Report”) follows six months’ of trial monitoring by the Cambodian Center for Human Rights (“CCHR”) Trial Monitoring Project (the “Project”) and contains data collected from the monitoring of 398 trials involving 688 accused in cases before the Phnom Penh Capital City Court of First Instance (the “Phnom Penh Court”) and Kandal Provincial Court of First Instance (the “Kandal Court”). The Report analyzes the improvements in the Courts’ adherence to fair trial standardsas well as the continued shortfalls.
