International Urgent Appeal to Stop Judicial Harassment of and to Release Mother Nature activists
On 09 November 2015, the Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders (a joint programme of FIDH and OMCT) requested urgent intervention in the case of Sim Somnang, Tri Sovikea, and San Mala, members of NGO “Mother Nature”, a local environmental group known for its efforts to stop illegal sand dredging and the construction of a controversial hydropower dam in Koh Kong Province.

LICADHO Calls for Immediate Closure of Prey Speu Center Following Two Deaths
November 3, 2015 - Following the deaths of two people unlawfully detained in the Prey Speu “Social Affairs” Center after having been arbitrarily arrested prior to Pchum Ben, LICADHO calls on relevant authorities to investigate the deaths and reiterates calls for the prompt closure of Prey Speu and all other such centers operating outside the criminal justice system. These are the second and third such deaths in less than a year.

CCHR to launch campaign to end impunity entitled “Never Forget”
The Cambodian Center for Human Rights (“CCHR”) will mark the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists by launching the “Never Forget” campaign, a weeklong series of activities highlighting the issue of impunity in Cambodia. Condemnation of Violence against Members of Fifth Mandate National Assembly
Cambodian civil society organizations (CSOs) and social commentators are deeply distressed and condemn in the strongest possible terms the recent violent attacks against CNRP members of National Assembly (NA). The attacks were carried out on 26th October 2015 at 12:30 pm, at south of the National Assembly building. At least three people were seriously attacked or injured, two of which were CNRP MPs, and also their properties were vandalized.

Civil Society Condemns Violence Against Cambodian Opposition MPs
October 27, 2015 - ADHOC, CCHR, CCIM, CLEC, STT and LICADHO strongly condemn yesterday’s violence outside the National Assembly, and at the gate of an opposition leader that left two opposition CNRP MPs injured and bloodied, and call for an immediate independent and transparent investigation into the orchestrated violence. We further express deep concerns over the lack of police action to control a related gathering in front of Kem Sokha’s house, which was surrounded yesterday afternoon by several hundred individuals, some of who threw rocks at the front gates while others were heard calling for even further violence.
