CCHR to Host Workshop on “Human Rights Defenders: Practical Measures for Self-Protection”
On Tuesday 26 February 2013, the Cambodian Center for Human Rights (“CCHR”) will host a workshop entitled “Human Rights Defenders: Practical Measures for Self-Protection” aimed at bringing together different types of human rights defenders (“HRDs”) from across Cambodia - including community leaders, land rights activists, trade unionists, students and rights workers - to discuss practical measures to improve personal security.

Case 002 Information About the Coming Weeks
Following the hearings on 18, 20 and 21 February the Trial Chamber has informed the parties about two upcoming expert testimonies and the way forward as follows: The Trial Chamber will hear expert testimony from Philip Short on the week commencing Monday 4 March 2013 and Elisabeth Becker during the week commencing 11 March 2013.

Joint Statement: The bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia Must not Infringe Lawyers’ Freedom of Speech
February 22, 2013 – We, the undersigned Cambodian civil society organizations, wish to express our concern at recent moves by the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia (BAKC) to prohibit lawyers from giving radio and television interviews without its prior permission. This infringes not only upon their fundamental right to freedom of expression, but also their ability and professional duty to speak on legal issues- which is in the public interest.
