• Placing the Charged Person Under Judicial Supervision

    • Released Date 05-Jun-2013

Under Cambodian law, there is a presumption that a person accused of a criminal offense will retain his or her liberty. However, the project’s findings have shown that pre-trial detention is imposed in nearly all cases in Cambodia. Yet, as provided by Articles 223 and 230 of the Cambodian Code of Criminal Procedure, the investigating judge can decide to place any charged person under judicial supervision as an alternative to pre-trial detention. A TMP radio talk show on the issue of judicial supervision aims at highlighting this underused criminal procedure.
