Mekong Dams Threaten Giant Fish, WWF Says
The planned construction of a giant hydropower project on the Mekong River in Laos will ensure the extinction of the Mekong giant catfish in Cambodia and seriously threaten several to a new report from the WWF. The WWF's River of Giants report, released today, says that new hydropower dams on the Mekong will disrupt the spawning, growth and breeding of several iconic Mekong fish, including the giant catfish, the giant freshwater stingray, the dog-eat-ing catfish and the giant fish.

At least two female garment workers were injured yesterday after police stepped in to end a weeklong strike at a factory Phnom Penh's Sen Sok district, according to union leader Chea Mony. Mr Mony, president of the Free trade union, said that around 50 police armed with shields and batons confronted workers early yesterday morning.
